starview 3, is it safe?

Hi, firstly I am going to buy a starview 3 but i was wondering have virgin got any way of checking if you are connected to their channels without subscription.

And secondly if I bought a brandnew box would I still need to flash it, is it about constantly updating the software?

I don't believe they can currently check whether or not you are using their box or another one. If anyone else knows better please feel free to correct me.

I would also like to point out here that you have to have a basic subscription, the box won't work without a service provider.

No matter what box you buy you will have to flash it as none of them come with the firmware on them anymore.

Once you load the firmware (which is pretty easy, lots of people do it through this site) the box will autoroll and will work until the providers upgrade their systems again, at which stage a new flash will be needed.
