Hi all just about to have cable installed with Vir-in minimum package. Been advised to get a starview 3 box to expand channels. Looking into thi on the net and now here. Have been looking into the ex5000 which I guess is similar to the Sky+ and Virgin+boxes but do they have the same capability as starview 3 box whixh most people I have spoken to recommend? cheers, What I want is to be able to get as many channels as possible which I am assured by friends that the 3 can do, but not sure about the ex5000?. I looked at the ex5000 because the wife like the similarity to sk-+ and vir-in+. Are both capable of the additional channel access are both easily updated? Thanks theres more to think about once you start looking.
both boxes will only give you what your local cable provider provides,and both will pick these up the only difference is as sc0ucer said the ex5000 can record.
forgive my ignorance but i understood that these boxes allow access to more than the service provider provides with downloads from a pc?? friends have removed their original box and use this type to receive more channels?
no only what your cable co provides,the only use you will need from your pc is to download the latest firmware.
