Hi, I am new to this website. I've searched for threads to assist with my problem but can't locate anything. Apologies if this is the wrong thread to post my enquiry. I recently bought three Starview 3 'The Box Super' API ver:8.00e_E Boot ver:8.0 20.Jun.2008 I recently moved into a house which is wired with 4 TV ports. I had NTL out to reconnect/activate the signal coming into the house. Before they arrived, I removed a 4-way splitter in the cable box at the side of the house. Once they left, I refitted the 4-way splitter. However, I can only pickup a signal via the TV port box the NTL engineer fitted in the sitting room. Despite the splitter being reconnected, all my other Starview boxes are not picking up signals during the installation channel scan, all are showing as failed and I end up with 0 program found. Do I need to alter any other user settings under the user set-up? Do I need a signal boosted? I tried setting up a TV from one of the pre-existing TV ports when the main Starview Box was switched off that is conected to the newly installed NTL TV port (just to see if this made any difference - no joy). Appreciate any assistance you can give. Regards, Canada101
It looks like you will have to reconnect the other 3 feeds, you say one of the TV,s is working, if you go back to the side of the house and feed the working cable into the 4 way splitter and see if that works, otherwise you can join the splitter between the subbox beside the TV and run cable all around your house (messy) and yes I would say you need a Booster as well! Generally when N*l supply you its only one feed coming into the house, directly to the main room, I believe what you do is split that connection, feed it into a booster and depending on the amount of feeds you need simply plug these into the otherside of the booster directly to where you need them!!
Than you DesB for the reply. I want to avoid the 'messy' option. The booster is the way to go but my next problem is how to get a booster out to the TV cable box at the side of the house. Need power source - might be messy too but at least less messy than running coax al over the house. Especially as the house is already hard wired with coax. Will hit Maplin today and check out if a booster makes a differnce (will run an extension lead before I got drilling to tap a power source).
