Can someone please offer me any advice,I've got a Starview Box Super and it's been working ok since before Xmas with just updating the keycodes.About 4 days ago it stopped working and when I switched it on it just came up with a Ld80 number on LCD then re-booted itself, and continued to do this several times until it just got stuck on the Super Box initial screen, and would not respond to anything on the remote or buttons on the front, and I had to power it off and on again where upon the whole cycle started again.I then decided to flash the new update version8.04 firmware onto it which worked ok,but when I did a factory re-set then tried to re-scan the channels it just started re-booting itself again and the Ld80 number appears again and it just got stuck on the Box Super initial screen again.I tried to upload the firmware again this morning but it re-booted itself after 25% and now just powers itself down and does and stays off.Can anybody offer any advice as I'm pretty desperate now to get the thing working again. Thanks
On reading through forums,I might have flashed my box incorrectly.I downloaded from the gtrom uploader(version 8.04) but have not chosen a .bin file.Sorry to be an idiot but this is all new to me.I clicked on app file only on gtrom and then download, which then ended successfuly, but my box is as above.By choosing 'app file only ' I cannot then choose a bin file as it's greyed out.Could anybody please advise if what I've done is right. Please Please.
you don't need a bin file for the box super that's only a channel data file. you just press download in the bottom left of the program. try flashing it again. it sounds like a hardware problem though.
Cheers mate, I've now successfully updated firmware again and managed to re-scan all chanels but picture lasted about 2 mins before the friggin thing switched itself off again. It will come back on , showing the Ld80 message again, but then the picture goes all crazy and box re-booted.I'm now severely pissed off with this.Anybody had or know anyone who has had similar problems.
it sounds the same as the sv1 problem maybe that's the problem. does it ever display 0 on the lcd when it is on before it reboots?
here i have like 6.00 or something like that on starview 3 if i update it will i get more channels just wondering or does it matter cause its working fine !!
if you put on the latest version it will update codes by itself. depending on your area and provider you will get a certain amount of channels they provide.
It does show 0 and sometimes 5 just before it re-boots itself.Does this mean I have to take it to pieces 'cos to be honest I'm not very good at things like that. Thanks for all your help.
mine does that 0 thing sometimes, very very seldom though. try a factory reset while it's on the menu before scanning (if it ever gets that far) and see if it works. if not i'm afraid it's more than likely the c11 cap blown. if you end up opening it just look for blown caps or leaking caps or see if the + shape on the top of a cap is wearing away. they're only about 50 cent or pence from maplin so it's worth a try instad of buying a new box.
