Hi all, I have purchased one of these boxes recently and can pause live TV and record but is that all you can do. Is there not any facility to set a channel and timer to be able record programmes or is there something I haven't downloaded

press epg, then select the programme you want to record, then press the red button on your remote, this should hilight the programme then it will record it at the time it starts.BUT DO NOT CHANGE CHANNEL ON THE STARVIEW ONCE RECORDING AS IT WILL THEN RECORD THE CHANNEL YOU HAVE CHANGED TO!¬!

make sure you are pressing the red record button(and not the red sub button!) it is located near the bottom of the remote on the right hand side.

have you the latest 1.07 firmware on it also do you have a hdd or a pen drive plugged in with enough memory on it(ie a full football match to record is about 4gb).if so then i dont know whats wrong with it other than trying a factory reset and see if that works.

a bit of info on recording on the sv4 usb i have come across:

TheBox Super USB (Starview 4) Recording
From the EPG, select the channel & programme you want to add to the pre-record schedule & press the REC button (red dot, not red interactive) on the remote. The programme is now highlighted in red to indicate that it has been added to the pre-record timer. Selecting it again will remove it from the pre-record schedule.

Can set multiple pre-records (not sure how may) but it won't allow you to select any that overlap - 'invalid time' message is displayed.

If the selected programme has already started, recording starts immediately.

If you're watching a channel & a scheduled pre-record is set to start on another channel, it switches to the channel being recorded.

If you're watching a pre-recorded programme & a scheduled pre-record is set to start, it does not start and no message is displayed to warn you of a scheduled record.

Don't know what happens when you're watching time-slip when a scheduled pre-recorded programme is about to start.

If the box is on standby it switches on & changes to the channel set by the pre-record schedule at the appropriate time then starts recording. After the recording has finished it goes back into standby.

While recording you cannot change channel nor access the EPG. This means you can't setup any more pre-recordings until the current one has finished.

Setting multiple pre-records seems to work BUT the wrong channel often gets recorded. i.e. If the current programme being recorded ends at the same time as the start of the next scheduled pre-record, but they're on different channels, it often records the current channel by mistake.

The pre-recording schedule is retained after a power-cycle so doesn't get lost.

    Hey guys,
I just got a starview 4 and it works great, now sometimes the EPG doesn't show info, but I guess a factory reset should sort that!

One question I have is, the films recorded are in .ts format is there any good program that I can use to convert these into avi, divx, etc...

    Thanks

    J

I can't find the REC button on my starview 4 remote

    http://www.cableboxuk.com/files/starviewremote.JPG

I have a remote which looks like this one but i think most starview 4 remotes gave additional buttons on the bottom.
do i have to buy a new remote or how can i REC with that one?

    Hi guys,

My Starview 4 USB will record on the fly and pause but won't allow me to timer record. I've gone into the EPG and set a program to record in the future both just an hour and a day ahead (highlighted in red). The box changes to the channel but the recording doesn't start. It's flashed with the lastest software (v1.1 i believe).

    Any ideas?
    Cheers
