    Hello all,

Based in Dublin, above box works perfect for viewing all channels.

My Query is connecting external hard disk drive to the above box.
I have formatted a 250gb external drive using FAT32 but the starview cannot see the drive. All connections are fine. Im stumpted any tips?

What did you use to format the drive? Power down the SV4 from the main switch at the back unplug the drive, (always power down when taking the HDD out or plugging it in on the SV4).

Try a factory reset, then rescan and turn the keycode back on. Power down the box after update and add HDD back. Power up and try HDD again. Are you using the latest Beta firmware?

Here for a few more minutes but then have to leave sorry ;) The USB port is working as you have flashed it, did you use a mem stick to do this ?

Do you have another drive to try out?

I used a memory stick to flash the box initially (with the beta fix).
External drive shows up in Win XP as FAT32. I will try what you mentioned above again.

Does it even recognise that something has been connected to the USB slot. I know when I connected mine for the first time it still asked me to format it even though it was already in the FAT32 format. When I accpeted the format, it created 2 empty folders "CH Data Backup" and "Code Backup" on the HDD. Maybe it needs those.

The starview only recognised the USB memory stick.
It cannot see the external hard drive.

    Im close to giving up!

mark did you partition the drive? with swissknife you can partition the drive to say, 150 gig on fat32, give that a bash and see if it works for you, as scouser said, make sure the SV is off when removing and adding the drive, if the SV picks it up after a partition, you can then format in the SV, try that and let us know how ya get on, sometimes a SV has trouble seeing a HD over 250gb, so partition it to the above,

also is this a self powered drive?
