I am looking for a starview 4 and the best price I could find was £84.99 on satandcable. I would just like to know if they are a safe supplier and do clones exist of this box. Also I have flashed many starview 2 and 3, does this get flashed in the same way with the null cable. I am based in the UK. Wales.
    Cheers.

Yes clones exist and yes they sell clones, but doesn't mean you wont get a genuine box there either. Price is OK. And no you flash an SV4 via it's USB port with a memory stick or USB Hard Disk Drive.

For a single tuner PVR I would probably go for the Eurovox 5100. The emulator on the SV4 has been compromised in Ireland so it can also be done quite easily in the UK by VM.

Clones by nature are cheaper because they are manufactured using cheaper components, but some clones are just as good as a genuine model, e.g. some DM500Cs.

But clones are not supported by the distributor/manufacturer and are prone to been bricked by genuine firmware.

It wont be a clone well according to the latest batch they have shipped out, (so I have just been told). Either way there is no clone killing firmware for the SV4 and yes the 1.07 firmware version will be fine.

    firstly hello, fellow scouser here,
im reading up and read you are sometimes in town playing fiddle is this right?? if so think i know you.

second ive got a problem but not a difficult problem.
but with your advice im sure we can sort it out.
i have the starview 4 super usb...
done everything there is to do, updated fw ect emu on ect ect.
now i have all the channels ...all good.

except when i tuned in to n*l i only got say 50% of channels..
so i re-tuned to t* ok i got more channels, between the two suppliers.
my problem is now i have three bbc1, three s*y 1, three s*y sports ect ect.

some work some dont all in all its seems to be a mixture of both suppliers is there a way of sorting this??
im thinking the only way is to manually delete the ones that dont work but if ever i retune they will be back again....does this make sense ,do you know what i mean....

    hope you can help.

ps,my best mate plays pro fiddle and has featured on a few albums ect, films ect if you ever want to meet for couple of beers and see him in town one night let us know and we let you know where he plays.and what times.

    regards wayne.

LOL at me and the fiddle were did that come up :)

I presume you are on Telepest in Liverpool. If thats the case all that you need to do is to carry out a factory reset. Then go through the installation process again and select TW as your provider.

After scan completes, turn keycode on and go to Sly Sports and let it update. This is also presuming you are using 1.07 firmware.

If all channels do not scan in try C&* also as you may border it.
