    Hi all,

I am new to this forum and would like a bit of advice if possible:)

I have read a few threads about the starview 6 box but I kind of need a bit of an idiots guide to setting one up from scratch including where to find the exact firmware i need etc

I have just purchased a box tonight so should be here by tuesday hopefully then I will try and set it up myself.

Also, can anyone tell me if the box will last long? I had a dbox which isnt working now due to nag3 but worked for abt 3-4 years before now. Just looking for an idea if this starview 6 is my best option or not.

Thanks and sorry if any of you have repeated this in earlier posts but there are just so many to try and go through, would really appreciate any help.

Thanks hooter, looks like a very good guide. Just hope it works well when i try and attempt it myself lol

After the year is up if it is a year is that the starview finished or will there be other servers or what?

Again I apologise if this questions been asked before. Also, when the starview 6 is up and running it is possible to view sky box office events like ppv boxing etc?

ok thanks buddy, you reckon this is the best option to go for just now then?

Was considering the satelitte dreambox cardsharing thing but this seems less complicated.

the option you were going for would prob last a lot longer if doing between friends,
    also a bit safer

unless you got the (krypt A780) (starview.6) to work on a prepay dongle, only a few got it going that way

What sort of price per month is it to get it working off a PAYG dongle?

i've not really got a clue how to set it up between friends or else that sounds like a good idea. Just lacking in a bit of knowledge about how to set up a server and stuff like that, is there any guides for that?

no, as your not streaming anything, your only decoding the chans via packet data sent to the box from a serv, which is a mere blip on your usage
