if its the correct software(and you say the box works)then if the box is brand new why not contact the supplier, and mention this problem.i have seen many boxes and never seen a box that switches it self off.on the sky boxes they have a new setting auto stand by,if the channel has not moved for a time(say an hour, the box will go into standby)maybe the new starviews have this energy saving setting, just a thought.failing all phone your supplier.

ok...starviews that go off every hour or more frequently will usually require a reflash....just reflash the same or latest firmware..check out my link....even if you fone your supplier,he most likely wont take back the box if the firmware has been changed..reflash,and then let us know how it goes...

Sounds like a bad flash. You will need a Max232 interface to bypass the USB port and flash again.

Before I give you that information, have you asked your supplier would they take it back and replace it first? Most decent suppliers will.

And do not worry about the firmware on it as they will wipe that.

i brought it from dvbmonkey, have emailed them but got no response, i think they are based in china as thats where the box came from don't really know what else to do, looks like its £80 down the drain :(

Hmmmm I have heard they are not the best alright :( You can get a Max232 interface here for £12.50 plus p&p.

It will come complete with instructions. You will also need a null modem cable, you can pick one up there also or on fleabay for a quid or so.

    This will repair your SV4.

Yes it will work and as said instructions will come with the repair kit. However if you do have a problem, (unlikely), please post back ;)
