Ok i'm all new to this stuff so please excuse the ignorance.Ok i have just got an old starview box and i've figured out how to enter the codes etc and it's all working fine.what i want to know is is there anyway that Virgin can detect that you are using the box if the box is connected directly to the main feed (authorised box not connected)?Or do i really need to get a splitter and hook both up?.If so what kind of splitter and connections etc do i need?.sorry for all the questions but i'm new and learning :D.

Ahh thanks for the reply.I didn't think they could detect it but i wondered given the fact there's a channel on it when you scan now that gives a warning about the box being unauthorised and it being illegal.Think i'll get a splitter kit anyway.

Just out of interest how do they know a box isn't an authorised one?.Because when you do a scan with your dreambox/Starview you get this channel that appears (usually 150) telling you the box is unauthorised.

That is an old trick that they always use, their own subbed boxs have a talk back feature to let them know that it is being used, these boxs do not have that feature for obvious reasons so don't be worrying about it. Just delete it from the list if it bothers you that much and I agree with you that it would be better if you used a splitter and ran both boxs, at least that way you can watch catchup TV if and when you want to.
