hi guys, hope you can help me out here!. have starview box, looks original, 25 vents, scart on right looking from front, but runs software version 2.57e, boot 7.0, aug 2006 , which i take means it's a clone, so i updated last nite to the "clone safe" fix. ran fine for two hours, even auto updated when the keys were rolled!!, but, after the two hours or so passed it went bananas!. now it reboots every 10 minutes or so, sometimes doesn't come back on lest i switch off and on at back of box. did i use the right software? should i just take it out back and bury it? drivin me nuts!!!. thanks in advance for any help you might give.
even if the box is genuine the clone software will still work on it did you use cryptstar 257 core bin file yeah
It sounds like your box is genuine check this and see if it is genuine try reflashing with v1.4 cryptstar
thanks for the quick replies guys. tempo, that's the file i used alright, and karl, i've checked lots of pictures like the one you posted and my box doesn't look like a clone, in all the pictures of clones i've seen the scarts are always on left as you look from the front. my scarts are right where they should be.
yep its nearly always genuine with the vents and scarts being right but i would always double check the inside which you`ve done 100 percent genuine hope that sorts the problem if it does then 257 doesnt always work right on genuine boxes
just flashed with cryptstar v1.4 core 400 and still the same,, constant reboot just as before, think it's time to take out that hammer!!
and again, the same.it seems no matter what i flash it with it just reboots reboots reboots. maybe it's just knackered
aldala have a look in here (last post) courtesy of fergusb&martinme http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/531363
what does it do just keep rebooting or does it even show tv. karls last post is correct if thats what happens. hardware fault.
karl, thats exactly what happened last nite bfore the rebooting. (0 on display fix) and picture freezing (on) but sound ok). and still just bfore it reboots it freezes with a zero on the display. could be onto something here, around to a mate for a cap and out with my soldering gun!. hope it works! thanks
thanks to all you guys for the help. i'll update this when i change that cap. probably saturday. thanks again!
