hi all, i`ve been lookin on the internet all day but no luck in finding a cable to connect my starview box to my laptop. Everytime i need to upload firmware i have to drag my old pc out and use the serial connector.

My laptop has one serial connection which i use to transfer onto my lcd tv. Can i use this connection or is there a cable to connect the starview to my laptop via the usb port.

    Anyone????

    Hi
You did'nt look very hard, try a search on the popular auction site for 'USB to Com Port' 0.49p + Post. The use same 'Null Modem Cable'

thanks for the reply but my starview box has a 9 pin female connection and as far as i can see on ebay they all show usb connections with 9 pin male connections and i need a 9 pin female connection. i`ve already bought one of these 9/25 pin Serial Cable COM RS232 Cable + DB9/DB25 Adaptor hence the question on this forum.

Does anyone elses starview, have this connection or am i missing something?

    Hi
You need to look for a 'Null Modem Cable' These ARE Female to Female 9 pin.
(((((Forget 25 pin cables and adaptors.))))
Put this number in the popular auction site (170197557389)and get one

    Hi
With you now, you won't find a USB to 9pin cable anywhere, only a Usb to 9 pin converter so you have to do it this way. You will need what I gave you a number (Usb to 9pin converter) plus a Null Modem Cable which is a 9 pin to 9 pin female cable, use same to search for a Null Modem Cable.
