    Hi All,

I have had a starview box for about a year and a half. It has always frozen and said bad/scrambled channels and then returned to normal after a few seconds. So after reading various threads here I decided to try and update the firmware. I checked to see if the box was a clone or not and as the remote is one of the current ones, the packaging it came in was purple and the manual was a light colour I decided it was not a clone (despite the scart connections being on the opposite side). So I updated the firmware with 4.50. Now all that happens when I turn on the box is the green light moves accross the screen and then stops. Nothing else happens. When I plug it into the TV all that appears is The Box across the screen. I have tried to reflash it with version 2.57 fixed as per other threads but it keeps telling me "Flash Update Fail ...". I have tried a few other flashes too 2.54, 2.55, but I get the same message. I now realise that my box is a clone!

Have I killed my box or is there someway of fixing it? Please help.

    Thanks.

No you havent killed it but you loaded the wrong firmware onto it, 4.50 is for the box which is the Starview 2 you have a Starview 1. Follow the bad flash guide here to recover you box http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/531363#3215755 BTW use 2.57eE Fixed to be on the safe side.

    Hi sc0user,

I have already tried 2.57eE Fixed as per the attached thread but it keeps telling me Flash Update Fail ...

    Any other suggestions.

    Thanks.

Honestly if you persist with the bad flash method it will work.
