The Maplin's part number is VH50E its a 16V 1000uf electrolytic capacitor costs about 50p. Any problems just shout
cheers m8, your some man. so is it just a case of changing the c11? i was looking through the forum and it said something about changing the c21 b4 u change the c11? does that sound right? i no its a bit early 2 b thinking about this but is it possible i need 2 jtag or would something come up on the display window?
Did you get the polarity the right way round when you fitted the cap? Also look at this picture, see if its any help, Are you able to check the outputs from the PSU with a multimeter?.
do u mean i might have soldered it on the wrong way round? i have i multimeter but i would need 2 get a battery 4 it
First of all as said make sure you have put the cap the right way round, you will see a line on the cap, you line that up with the circle on the board. To test the PSU, The ribbon that comes from the PSU unplug it from the main board (it wont unplug from the PSU) On the PSU you will see, 3V 2V 23V 7V GND GND At the plug end of the PSU put the black wire pin of the Multimeter on either one of the GND (ground) then touch the red wired pin on each terminal and make sure each one corresponds with the voltage shown on the board. Dont blow yourself up!!!!!, if your not confident take it to an electrical repair shop to check it for you.
Set on AC (V~) 25V or above. edit, Some help here >> http://www.ladyada.net/library/metertut/voltage.html
