This starview clone is about year and half old.
    Firmware version 2.57 e_E Aug 2007.
The picture started hanging and pixelatting about a week ago.
Now when I entered new codes ,it will reboot sfter doing this.
On the little screen of box an e appears. Any ideas on how to fix this.
    Thanks

Just to be 100% on this I will need
You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link.

You will need version CryptStar-v1.4-Core257.bin firmw@re for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmw@re folder.

and follow instructions. Do you think my existing firmware is corrupt?
    Thanks.

Yes thats correct. I dont know if its a firmware issue until you try an update. I could be even a capacitor issue, but if you update and are still having the same problem then we can look at this.

I'm after updating the firmware with no problems.

I'm still getting the problem with the pixelatting screen and then the box reboot.
When I have the system neu on there is no problem ,it's just when i go onto any channel.

I opened the box to see if I could see any damaged components.
There was a cap at C12 16v 1000pF with brown stuff on the top.
I gently cleaned it off but I couldn't see any break in the cap.

Could this be a leaky capacitor ?
also I read did a channel rescan , no difference.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
