STARVIEW/EUROVOX/D BOX

I am a firm beleiver in "If its not broke, don't fix it" So as long as my starview box is working, then I wont bother updating it! However, I know many people who have Dboxes and eurovoxes and none of them have ever gone off. What have they got that stops them from going off? I know of 1 dbox that has been working faultlessly for almost 3 yrs!!
