    Hi,
    I have a genuine Starview Box with the latest firmware flashed. The box does not respond to any command from the remote control and I am therefore stuck with the basic channels as I can't go into menu and do the necessay things to scan open up the rest of the channels. I have checked the remote control with another box and it works fine so I know it is not a faulty remote. Can anybody please help in resolving my predicament. Appreciated.

    unplug the b0x, open it up & have a look where the LCD screen is & see if any of the connectors are loose.

    Hi
    Has the remote ever worked? or only faulty since flash?
    I presume if you have basic channels you have scanned somehow?
    How did you scan without using the remote?
    Does the other box's remote work with both STB's
    I would still try new batteries.
    I know you say you tried the remote on another box but :
    Try pressing the STB Button on the remote to reset it. If Aux is accidently pressed it kills the remote.
    Aux = Kills Remote
    STB = Wakes Remote

    Hi
    Thanks cactikid, I do have a S/V PVR so it seems the remotes are different, will remember that one.

    do as noely says follow the white ribbon from the lcd screen when you open the box then gently push it down this is a frequent problem with starviews

    Thanks for all your feedback and I have tried the following to see if it resovles my problem:

    1) Opened the box followed the ribbon and checked al the connections but there does not appear to a fault here.
    2) The remote did work before the flash and after it briefly but doesn't now
    3)I will try and borrow another remote from a friend and see if that will do the trick.
    4) I hadn't noticed the AUX or STB buttons on the remote as most of the white text on the remote had faded away
    5) When I said I tried it with another box, it was with an identical genuine first generation SV box and it worked.

    I will keep you posted but if there is anything else then please let me know.
    Thanks again.

    you will not see a fault you need to firmly push the ribbon down,try it and i bet it works.
