Without asking the obvious but as far as I am aware I am on N** mmds but have problems getting any more than 12 channels. Could it be possible that I am on ch**us or would my bills be branded ch**us rather than n**. I live in an apartment and fear than the signal from the mmds aerial is getting split so much that it is preventing me picking up all the channels. Any help??

If you get some channels its N** mmds.
You get absolute nothing at ch**us mmds from a cable box.

Hi Nails think we have discussed this already but yes your bill will say N** at least until the end of the month when it is to be rebranded as one bill under UPC. I still think your problem is your communal feed.

Hey Scouser. Rang "them" today tp confirm that it is an N** mmds but as you said it is a communal feed. I am having difficulty getting the channel info when the normal N** Pace box is plugged. I think this is due to the low signal level as well. I am going to get them to send a technician out to see if he can boost the signal or something. I am using the channel information as the excuse!!!

The more I think about this though Scouser the more it doesn't make sense. Surely if i am picking up sky sports etc on my pace box through N**. You would think that the skyview would also be able to pick them up. Am i right in saying this or does the skyview require a higher signal. This is doing my head in!!!

No you are correct if your pace box can do it cannot see why the Starview cant but you should be picking up something on the SV, have you tried a booster. Best booster I can recommend with variable attenuation is this one:

this basically boosts any signal coming in?? so if the signal was really weak it might bring it up to an acceptable level to pick the channels?

Doesnt just boost as it has a variable attenuator so it can be equalised.

I have a channel dump for Dublin MMDS as of September which is the latest to date so far. I can give it to you to try if you like.

Heres the channel dump should be fine for you once you are N** MMDS:

Regarding equalising and attenuating I do not have an easy way of explaining it but here goes.

An attenuator basically wastes power, to deliver a required level to the STB. The forward path equaliser attenuates the lower frequencies more than the higher frequencies. The RF network itself tends to attenuate the high frequencies so at the headend the high frequencies are given a little more power. But once you get to the home you want roughly level signals from all frequencies, and if the lower frequencies levels are too high as the network has attenuated the high frequencies too much, the equaliser is designed to level them out.

Bet you wished you hadn't asked now :)
