I am thinking about getting one of these, would the Dreambox 500C be a better bet than the Starview? Any suggestions would be welcome.

The Dreambox 500C is far better than the Starview m8. You can change the image and do more with the 500c. Or you could wait for the new 600c which comes out this month.

They are both good boxes m8. I would say start with a cheap dbox2 then move up to a Dreambox when you get the hang of it.

I am a bit confused by what they mean when they say about the DM 600-C on the site http://www.dvb-shop24.co.uk/

'The Worlds smallest digital Linux set-top box with plugable
DVB-C Standard universal Cable TV tuner and PVR support'

Doesn't it come with a TV tuner?

Timoweb thanks for the prompt reply. I think I am getting myself confused here. I am familiar with the Eurovox box, that box is literally plug and play. What I am trying to find out is if I brought the DM 600-C, would I than have to purchase a 'plugable cable tv tuner' as an add on or does it come with everything I need in the box?

All there you dont need to buy anything else. You will have to flash a modded image though or place cams and keys in the CVS one. It doesnt come with a hard drive so you will need to buy one of them.

Am I correct in assuming that the hard drives are not the same as the ones used in a typical laptop?

I think most new hard drives offer AV performance anyway its not new been around for ages. Probly worth a quick check before you fork out for a new HD.
