Apologies for yet another Starview PVR EPG question but here goes. I love the Starview PVR box but do have a couple of issues with it, well not with the box, more with the EPG. 1. The EPG is very slow at updating and loading the channel list each time the 'epg' button is pressed. 2. When trying to navigate the EPG, using the direction keys to select a different channel, the channel is actually changed on the box. Previously with the Starview boxes (non pvr) this would not change channel but allow you to browse your channels while still having your initial channel minimised in the top right of the display. It is quite distracting and ruins the whole experience when you browse up the channel list, the box is constantly changing channels. I was wondering if this is the expected behaviour of the PVR epg and will not change or are the developers are working on this to change it? Also, are there plans to update the response speed of the epg ? I fully appreciate that the dev's are doing this for free in their own time, I'm just inquiring, not demanding here. thanks
Hi The slow EPG is quite normal and has always been an ongoing problem with the PVR, many threads and posts in the past have mentioned this, never been a cure for this, only help/advice is 'patience' Not sure about your second problem as I selected my channels from the channel list menu, not the EPG menu, so never had your probs. You may be lucky and get further F/W updates but as the box is no longer made it seems unlikely to me personally. jbvid
This was an Annoying problem with the SV1 when i first got one couple yrs ago. Like you say everytime you go down in the epg the channel changed and another annoying thing was when you found a program in the EPG and pressed the Info button to get a full description, you then had to exit right out to Tv then back into the EPG again.. This was one of the main reasons I upgraded to SV the Box when it came out as there was talk of faster EPG. It wasnt great but alot faster, didnt change channel when scrolling through but still had to exit out after I pressed the Info button. BUT now ive upgraded the Firmware to the 8.02 all these annoying little things have now been sorted and I cant believe the EPG and how fast it is. Just a Tip as I know we dont have the same Starviews, try switching the channel to ITV and see if the EPG update is faster. I find if im on FIVE then the EPG is crap and sometimes dont even work. Soon as I go to ITV and press EPG, its on the ball within seconds!! Im glad I found out the weakness of the PVR especially this one you have mentioned, Think ill take it off my watched items on Ebay now!!
@raartoot Hi Glad they fixed it on TheBox with the latest S/W, seems like its still a problem on the PVR version. @Furiana I presume you have the latest S/W installed on yours (TheBox PVR 081208 Fix) or you would not be viewing much. jbvid
