Hi. I can't seem to get into the Secret Menu to allow me to view all the stations. I've followed the instructions on the "Starview PVR startup Guide" but nothing is happening. Any suggestions? I already own a PVR box bought last year and had no problems accessing the Secret menue but following the exact same instructions with the new box isn't working. Might it have something to do with the firmware. The new box's firmware is dated March 2008. My old box has firmware dated October 2007. Thanks.
Hi You have the answer to your problem, it is the March firmware only FTA (i'm sure) so no Emu/AU menu in it. Load the v4.506-Oct and you will be fine. Its in TheBox PVR folder in the link below http://eko.4shared.com/ jbvid
I tried to download the older Firmware but its not downloading. I'm using PVR loader ver 3.36 and the firmware i'm trying to download onto the box via the Null modem cable is BoxPVR_E_v4506. Its telling me after a while that the update failed. Any suggestions on anything i might be doing wrong. Thanks.
Hi You don't have a connection then betweeen the PC & STB. Have you used your present setup before to patch/transfer? ie present Null modem cable, correct PC Com port etc, and have you unzipped the v4506 F/W file after downloading it before trying to load it into the PVR loader? Check in device manager which com port you are using and make sure your cable is a Null Modem one and not a serial straight through cable. Also are you using a USB to null modem converter? or does your PC have a 9 pin com port? Finally have you had a good read or the help files in the documentation folder I gave you a link too?. jbvid
Yeah, i've set up a PVR box before and added a Hard drive with no problem. The problem i was having was that the box wouldn't accept the older Firmware but i managed to get the box to accept the software although its a completely different setup to the Normal Starview "the box" With a bit of Googling i found the below solution .......... "When it shows 'init' on the PVR, switch off at the back. Then switch back on again and immediately press ok then exit on the remote (making sure that the remote is functioning as stb and not tv, vcr, or aux, repeatedly in quick succession (about 4 times), until display reads 'boot' then 'b-31'. when display reads 'b-31'your download should now work but remember you must use the PVR Loader and not the standard starview gtrom" The above didn't quite work but i turned the Box off at the back again , turned it back on and straight away pressed OK and EXIT on the remote. B-31 came up on the screen and i was able to download the firmware. It was lucky that i kept messing around with the remote and turning the box on and off otherwise i'd still be scratching my head. Thanks for your help though JBvideo. Got there in the end. The instructions need to be updated. The current ones don't work unfortunately.
