Just wondering about some issues with my Starview PVR:

The epg is slow to move around. Is this just how it is or can it be fixed.

I have also noticed that some channels are missing, eg Kerrang that friends get on their regular The Box.

Also - when i put the epg on or if there is a lot of white on screen a hiss is heard. not very anoying but i would like to get rid of it.

And finally, when i installed a hard drive it made a loud noise as the drive was spun continuously. I actually disconnected the drive it was so annoying.

any solutions possible or is it just a poor product?

    Hi
    1. EPG is normally slow, no fix yet, just patience.
    2. Ask friends what frequency kerrang is and scan it manually on yours
    3. Never seen or heard white screen and hiss problem before (are you using scart output?
    4. Change the Hard drive.

Cheers, ill try the first 2

yes i am using the scart output. its just a buzz or a hiss when there is a lot of white or blue on the screen, the TV is a new Sony Bravia, which i am fairly sure is not the problem (doesnt happen with playstation, DVDs or regular cable - just the PVRs' output).

and i dont think ill bother with the harddrive unless a friend breaks their computer. Your answer makes sense though, i poached the last hard-drive from a computer at work so it was fairly old and abused.

    Hi
Just a couple more ideas about the buzz or hiss, first try using the other scart socket out from the Starview or even another scart lead then try using the RCA phono outputs from the Starview for video/audio and see if problem persists.

    Hi
Glad you are sorted, think the scarts are marked up but one can use either.
