Hi all,my father has a pvr box for a gud 6 months now and from day 1 the hdd recordin has a mind of its own,sumtime it records sumtimes it dnt,u cud be watchin the recordin and it just frezzes as ur watchin it and thts tht u ave 2 bin it,it records 50/50,i have tryed most things thts up in this site,2 do the pvr,but same old same old,have been on 2 the supplier numerous times,but they pawned us off here,was thinkin of gettin a new hard drive but if tht dnt work,its just an extra cost.Can ne 1 help?
Hi What version of F/W does it have installed? Menu/System Setup/System Information, to find this info. It needs to have v4.506_15thOct, you will find it in 'The Box PVR' folder and the how to do it in the 'Documentation Folder' all in the link below. http://eko.4shared.com/ jbvid

It tells you in the docs folder where I pointed you to ((((STARVIEW PVR STARTERS GUIDE : Dec 2007)))both methods USB & Null Cable are in there, did you read it???? jbvid
Hi jb,i did as u said,connected the usb cable 2 the box pvr and the pc,i d/l the version u suggested sent it 2 the box hard drive and then disconnected the cable as it said e.t.c,but when i tryed 2 upload it then thru the box pvr,it was tellin me tht there was nothin there 2 upload,so i tryed again and again,i put it in the hard drive,then f/w folder,and it still told me it wasnt there,is there a certain place i must put the d/l,r is it tht i am transferrin it from my recieved files on my pc hard drive 2 the pvr hard drive,r is there sumthing else im doin wrong,otherwise i will try it again in the morn..Sorry if im wreackin ur brain,but my brain has being wreacked since i recommend the box pvr 2 my father.
Hi The hard drive needs a couple of folders on it, if they are not on there. 'FIRMWARE' and 'MP3' in Caps. The firmware v4.506 need to be dropped into the FIRMWARE folder. When you record MP3's they go into the MP3 folder. If you formatted the hard drive on the Starview using the menu system I am sure it puts the folders on for you. I presume you are unzipping the compressed v4.506 firmware first with Winrar, hence the .rar extension (google for its a free D/L) jbvid
got pvr box today got hdd and inatalled ok but i still cant pick up any didital stations it has me worn out tinl n of giv n back 4 the box sterview 2 is it a better receiver my friend gets all station i cant get any on my pvr disapointed i am

HI JB,I was on 2 u a short while bck,with the updated software it still is not recording 100%,very hard to tell if it has made any difference,but,would it be worth my while replacing the hard drive,r be a waste of time,r do u think its a fault on some hardware?.Just to let u know b4 and after the software update the channels r working great so thts why im asking bout a harddrive replacement.
Hi Some people, still have the odd recording failure and the only way round it that works for me is to switch off the recorder then back on again set your EPG timer recording then switch it straight back off again without carrying out any more operations. The reason being all the remote control channel changes, start stop recordings, EPG searches etc etc seem to get the hard drive or control signal mixed up and confused, but if switching off then on again set your EPG timer then OFF works for me. Its all we have till or if and when new F/W is released. I would not normally suspect the Hard Drive unless it wouldn't format or record anything at all. jbvid
