Thinking about getting starview 2 to replace my old pvr and freeview. I live in Machester - would the coverage be good?
Also can you record from it, prefereably to a hard drive recorder?

I have a SV and a DVD HDD Recorder connected to each other and it does the trick

Basically you will need 3 scart leads and a coax cable to set this up :)

Thank you. I believe you can get a SV with a HD recorder? Any idea what I put in a search engine to find out where to buy one. If I just put in SV +Hd recorder I get lots of help sites but no actual sellers

    Sorry to but in Celt
    @ freccle.
If you are looking for a single unit there is a combined Starview Cable box with a Hard Drive inside, called 'TheBoxPVR' or 'Starview PVR' You will need to fit your own drive inside if not advertised with one. (as easy as fitting one in a PC) All Brackets, leads etc inside the box. This is a Cable Box, Not Freeview.
    Search/ fleabay/google (TheBox PVR)or (Starview PVR)

Thank you. When you say cable, does that mean I could only get the various channels if in certain areas of the country?

    Hi
The cable channel packages are very similar throughout the Uk, but you have to have a cable supplier connection or Broadband to your house ie ntl/virgin, tw etc. Freeview comes in through rooftop aerial in UK.
Maybe Celtic71 could butt in on me and help with more info if your location is Ireland

No, the s*y+ box will only work with an official card and is for satellite reception not Cable.

Sorry should have been more clear. I'm on NTL MMDS. I currently have the Eurovox max 2008. Just wondering is there something similar to the sk*+ box/UPC PVR out there I could get that I could set up schedules to record programs and not just record whats been shown on the tv like with a dvd recorder?

    Thanks

    Hi
Yes, Pretty sure MMDS is Cable. I am located in UK and we don't have MMDS here, If Cable then yes 'TheBox PVR' will record from EPG schedules and it has the option to put in a Hard Drive. I have one and can recommend them. Twin tuners, record two diff channs and watch one. Google 'TheBox PVR' or that popular auction site

    Hi
Funny you should ask that question because I to have had DM600 pvr and all though it is a more expensive box it can't do as much as The Box PVR and the DM 600 pvr is a lot harder to set up as it needs an ftp connection to get a new image (firmware), emu's and keys into it. It also has only one tuner against TheBox PVR's 2 tuners. I found TheBoxPVR so easy to set up and use, never having to touch it again once running was a great bonus. So my DM has gone now.
