    Hi

I a 100% complete Noob to this. live in North Kildare. I have Sky at the moment including the sports. I have recently been made aware of the availability of Dreambox and Starview boxes. I want to get one for myself so I have a few questions before I go ahead.

I presume that they don't work with a Sky dish signal and I will need to get a Chorus (UPC) connection? I was going to get the basic digital package and then hook up the Starview box. Which box do I need to get? Is it the 2 or the 3? Are they really plug and play simple or will I have to download stuff etc to get it to work? Basically what I really want to know is what I have to go to get this working for me. Will I still get the sports and movies as well?

If these questions violate any policy here I'm sorry. Can someone PM me if they want to discuss my questions away from public glare :)

    Thanks

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated

you will need a cable connection for starview to work.there are 3 different types 1 2 3 some are plug and play if your lucky to get one ask before buying. but even so they are fairly easy to set up.one way is join a null modem cable to another working starview and do a software transfer (sw transfer in your menu) or else you need a pc download gtrom.exe from this site thats your driver it will send a file to your starview the file you will need isstarview2007.api. you open gtrom.exe in your pc find the file and flash keep the starview on standby while doing this and do not type anything in the boxes provided in the gtrom.exe program everything you need ishere on this site.

I've done a little more reading on this!

I will have a Chorus MMDS connection and I understand that the only options available to me will be either the TheBox-T, a DM500T or a DM7025T.

I would like the option of using it as a PVR also so I think I will get the DM7025T. Is this a good choice? They seem a little expensive though. Is there any cheaper option that will work with Chorus MMDS and work as a PVR?

Will I be able to get an image from someone in my area that has a Dreambox and then flash this onto mine? Also, if I'm using it as a PVR wil I need two T tuners with the DM? Is it just a case of splitting the cable coming from the MMDS aerial and connecting it to the tow T tuners?
