Hi all, Started to have some problems using my starview the box. I have been suing this box for over a year now with no problems at all, but recently it just keeps resetting every 4/5 mins sometimes quicker! I have tried to factory retore, but now when searching the channels it resets itself before it can complete the search. Anyone got any idea's? It was running version 7.0 i think.

just to add, When it resets, it displays 'O' on the screen, then comes back on with the white screen showing 'the box' after switching the box off and back on again it goes back to the channel i was watching.

I have tried to flash it, but nothing is working?? I flashed it with thebox 4.51, it got to 100% and said complete, but now all i get is 4 flashing lights on the front then just a single green bar in the middle. Wont do anything now! tried to re-flash but it just says flash update fail. Im stuck now!
bad flash,try powering off box,press download followed by powering box on,if it works u will see it loading.u might have to do it a number of times to take.
I have tried re-flashing due to the bad first flash. Im using gtrom loader V4.00 and the 4.51e b1n file Its gets to about 14 / 15 % then comes up flash failed do i just keep on trying? or is it screwed ?
Open the GTRom, Turn the b0x off at the back click on download & after about 2 seconds turn the b0x on. As cactikid said, you might have to try this a few times until you get it.
Cheers cactikid and Desb and noelyf. I managed to flash thebox again, I realised i got a serial port on the back of PC, so got rid of using the usb to serial and it worked first time. Now i still have the same problem of it resetting itself, it wont even complete the first initial scan. It did display a '6' on the screen when it reset/crashed the first time if that means anything. Its currently on 57% of another scan so might workj this time?? who knows!!
spoke to soon! just reset! on the display screen now the furthest right digit displays a '-' just a dash? Anyone got any ideas
Seriously bad news i think, Just been reading through old threads, and believe that my problem could be caused by the capacitors. So i opened up the case to take a look, the cap C21 looks like it has melted onto the side of the U2. Can't really tell from most of the pics. Replace the ones you can see that are faulty and also replace the C11. Although if its less than a year old its under warranty, so send it back for a replacement.
Its not under warranty, had for well over a year. Does anyone know what cap is i need for the one photo'd in link no. 3? also does anyone know what 'U2' is? located next to cap C21 Cheers
