Starview will not go back to channel listing after reset.

Dear All,
Can I have your thoughts on the following... I have a st*rview 1 and was losing UTV, MTV etc, so I went for a reset as follows... Menu, Fac Set, code 1668, OK, turn off for min, press OK to Language, select english, select CC, auto scan, exit to menu, press 1570 EMU to ON exit, exit, exit.

It will do all of the above but the
Problem is it won't go back to the channel listing and keeps coming back to the Language menu and no futher. I have so far repeated the above proceedure 6 times, switch box on and off, tried same with 0000 code etc, it will go through all the motions alright, but all ends up at the language menu stuck on the screen.
Has anyone seen this before? Can you help?

Sounds to me like you need to flash it!!!

Thanks for your help with this.
I re loaded the starview 1 using null cable with the GTRom v4.00
and it said 100% afterwards etc. But when I went back to TV the language box was still on the screen. Should I try the above again or maybe something else?

Yeah I would try it again,generally if you cant get past the Language page it needs re flashing!

Re flashed the starview two times today, Language box still stuck on screen, any other suggestions that be might a worth a try please let me know. For some resaon when I switch the on/off button to on at the back it says -70 before the green coloured "on" appears on the tiny black screen of the box itself, not sure if that means anything?

have you tried pressing OK when its on langugue and retune it?

When on the Lanquage bit I press OK for english and then on to
Installation, then to Cable network and select cable company
Then Auto scan, exit press 1570 turn EMU to ON exit, exit, exit
and that's when it won't go back to the channel listing and the Lanquage box reappears again. Any suggestions would be great.

Flash the b0x again
Turn the b0x off at the back for a minute then turn back on
Then repeat language > ok for English etc & see if this works.

 

BTW, what firmw@re are you flashing it with?

Re flashed again as you suggest 100% download using the GTRom v4.00 bin file Starview H20070607 400eE and turned off for a min afterwards.
English OK Auto scan again etc. But same story, stuck at the end of it all with the Language menu. I wonder is my year and a half old Starview 1 knacked? Any other suggetions would be great?

mylesy, you`re using the wrong firmw@re, flash it with the Crypstar- v 1.4 - Core 257 bin & you`ll be sorted.

Thanks for putting me on the right track. I have a genuine Starview 1 so I flashed Crypstar V1.4 bin 400... and switched off for a min. Did not work, Language box still ends up on the screen after the auto scan and other motions.
You recommend Crypstar V1.4 bin 257 the flash for clones, maybe as my Starview is shagged anyway it may be worth a try, what do you reckon?

Mysley in Noels absence,i can tell you that you can flash with the 257.. yes its for clones but also works on 1st generation, and original boxes, so fire away, and hopoefully you wiill get sorted!

 

if u do not pick up channels during scan of course it is going to go back to beginning language.do u have coaxial plugged into cable input 100% sure,and cable straight from wall to box,scanning correct provider,as wrong one 0 channels found.when u do finally get channels switch emu to on.and exit out.

A BIG thank you... yuo were right about the coaxial being plugged into cable input 100% sure.... I checked this and it was not!
I was getting 0 channels scanned and staying stuck with language menu as a result, you were right big time.
I flashed bin 257 before checking the above and afterwards put back bin 400. I went to sky sports it did auto update 220% then a black screen appears, the free to air UTV, RTE, euro news etc are showing OK.
I have put in the CC codes for tonight and all 145 channels have returned. Any suggestions on the auto update?

try this set default key and exit,this wipes off codes stored see if updates,picture,update in other words stuck in loop.if that is the case u need to flash with the patch cryptstar 257 for clones and 4.00 for originals.it was the april fix lol,if u flash with either of these set default key and should update correctly.

I flashed the cryptstar 400 April '08 version and set default key as you instructed and bingo... Starview updates, auto rolls, all channels now showing, fantastic.

Some help needed if possible. I have a genuine Starview 1. I have flashed it with v4.00e. I then scanned for channels and 174 were found. I then turned EMU on and exited, data is being uploaded came up as expected however once complete just a black screen for all channels then back to date uploading again, this is a constant loop and I never get any pictures, is this box for binning or any suggestions please?
