starviw 4 usb pvr device

    have starview 4 usb want to connect external storage for pvr bought sea gate 500 gig.anybody any ideas how to go about this. pluged in device and asked to format device pressed ok but still running! cant find any info if this wrong storage device or am doing something wrong any help please?

    its to big to use, you will need to partition the drive on the HD, the biggest size you can use is 250 Max, google swissknife and download, its a partiton software to do this for you, the HD must be formatted to FAT 32 also

    thanks for that mickah will have a go at what you suggested. do u think it would be easier to bring it back and get a smaller one?

    its up to you really, but if you partition it as I said it shouldnt be an issue going forward,

    downloaded swissknife and was able to partition it to 250gig i think, how long do you think it would take the box to format same? left it all night and still no joy and you cant use remote while this is going on! any help welcome.

    Format it on the PC mate, to FAT32

    I don't think the size of the harddrive makes a difference so partitioning is a waste of time. I have a 1TB seagate hooked up to the starview usb.

    The main thing is the harddrive must be formatted to FAT32. Windows will only format it to NTFS so you need some other software to do it. I used a dos program called fat32format and it did the trick for me.

    obviously not as the OP HD is working
