I have some audio files that when opened from the hard drive play just fine. However, after burning them to a cd, there is static. You can still hear the song and stuff, but the static/noise is there. Any idea what can cause this?

I am running windows vista, with verbatim cd-r's and using a samsung sh-s203n burner.

What burning app are you using, what is the source format and what is the CD format?

Cd clone at first, but nero 7 was doing same thing. I have tried a karaoke mp3 file and some songs burned downloaded from zune.

I really can't help you. You still did not answer my question. Are you burning an audio CD or an MP3 CD? I know noise is intraduced when burning some formats of audio using some software.

I will say your media choice was great. I burn with the audio manager Media Monkey because I have the least issues and the software has some nice features. Media Monkey has a free version. Try using that software and see if the problem persists.
