no as router needs either cable or dsl modem to distribute the incoming signal

or you could just get a wireless adapter and just hope one of your neighbours has wireless and leech form them.

u can get wireless adapters in like nearly every new pc or laptop.they should not be more than like $60.you will have to see if someone near you has wireless.

ddp - i dont think there is a way to check if 2 people are using wireless.example.i used my wireless laptop in my garden and my mum was still using the pc.how would you get caught if it was like an old lady with a wireless router.she might see some speed decreases but she might just think its the line and the isp is busy.

yeah wep encryption helps but you can still extract information from the signal.i read wirless for dummies book and i know how to get bank details and that from a wireless signal.obviosuly ill not use it. :)

    you got billed for downloading?
how can that be.it would have to involve your isp then?
as if it was something from lets say itunes they can use your connection but would need to insert there own info
