I've just gone through the Alkohol manual again and have not seen or understood how to do chaptering. I have Nero Vision 3 not 4. First, after a recent burn job and selected automatic chaptering, the final result showed no default chapter sizes, chapters or anything else. The resultant job just had my raw "island" screen (which I have not much learned to modify yet.) Second, my goal with this thread is to do one thing: set up a job to manually divide a 2 part interview .avi file into 2 chapters with names for the 'story boards' or frames or whatever they are called and to label those frames/chapters. I'm going to assume that the new manual chapter will insert the image from that point on the job to indicate where the break and new chapter was made for the second speaker. I consider at this point that the automatic chapter function is non operational because checking the box did nothing. I'm using Nero 6.6.0.18 with Nero Vision 3.
A reply to my own question here-- solved I guess for now. Using a different .avi, an image did appear in the first thumbnail. Must have been something to do with the original. What appears is a logo for the content on that first chapter and then further in is the title graphic. This then shows up as chapter 2 and I can go on from there. But there is content that would be missed if it started at the the title image of chapter 2. I don't know how to get around that. There is a lot to this titling and chaptering business.
