I downloaded an AVI video (approx. 700MB) and have tried adding the subtitles from an SSA file to it using the guide using VirtualDub. For some reason the output AVI file ends up being over 50GB (YES! GIGAbytes). Am I doing something wrong? There should be a way to have the output file be just about the same size as the original file. After all, The original video is only 700MB and the subtitle file is only a few KB so why should the out file be almost 70 times as big as the original??? Ideally I would like a way to only have to use 1 program to accomplish this. If someone would like to provide me a step by step way of doing this (even with VirtualDub if neccessary) I would appreciate it. Please be as specific as possible and let me know where I can find the neccesary codecs if they don't come with the initial install of VirtualDub. Thanks.
You have to select a compression method (codec) under the 'Video' menu. http://www.xvid.org/ http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DivX_5
Which codec [NAME?] (and where can I get it) do I use to make the output video the same size (and quality) of the original?? Can you send me the codec?
