    my laptop seems to keep on getting stop errors.it does not happen on a specific conditions though,just that sometimes when i was using my pc,it happen. and it happens almost everytime i used my pc. and it also happens quite often when i wanted to shut down my pc.firstly the stop error happen,then my pc is forcibly-rebooted.after that,the shut down process normally run smoothly.

    this incidents happen almost everytime i used my pc.
    then,windows will said that it had just recovered from a serious error,with these files to be sent to microsoft for analysis.

    C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini010606-01.dmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\MRTALI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml
    C:\DOCUME~1\MRTALI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

    i wonder what it means.how do i fix them? actually,what is wrong?

    First, you need to find out what is stopping the PC from shutting down correctly.

    Right click My Computer, go to Properties. Click on the Advanced tab, then the Settings button under Startup and Recovery. Uncheck the box that says Automatically Restart.

    Then, post back the stop error.

    extra information:

    actually,when the stop error happens,a blue screen flashes, 1 second max,and then the computer restarted.then.windows will prompt a scandisk because it says that the pc is not properly shut down.

    among things that i managed to read was ;

    a fatal exception error has occured at ............. and many other stuffs that i cannot catch up with.

    ok.now i'm going to do what you said.

    thanks morph416.

    the stop error looks something like this;

    A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.

    If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer.If this screen appears again, follow these steps :

    Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in this stop error message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

    Check with your hardwsare vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIos memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

    Technical information:

    ***STOP:0x000000(0x8000004,0x83D51BF6,0xB5396C94,0x00000000)

    Beginning dump of physical memory
    Physical memory dump complete
    Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    and then,after windows restarted,it'll tell that it had just recovered from a a serious error.the error signature code is:

    BCcode:1000008e BCP1:80000004 BCP2:83D51BF6 BCP3:B5396C94
    BCP4:00000000 OSVer:5_1_2600 SP:0_0 PRODUCT 256_1

    what could be the problem?my harddisk is parted into two,with
    c:18.6GB,14.6GBfree
    d:18.6GB,13.3GBfree

    or does it has something to do with my pc's hardware?

    A STOP:0x0000000 error, if memory serves...may be related to your memory sticks. Good way to find out, is to download and run MemTest86.
