My kids have hundreds of DVD movies and they are starting to show some wear and tear. I would like to store the movies onto a hard drive and be able to play them back with an easy to navigate menu. I know Windows Media Center will do this but I don't want to invest in full PC.

Are there any devices on the market that gives you this capability?

    Thanks.

I'm looking for a good answer to this also.. I can give you what I've found so you can research.
Apple TV - limited storage size and features
Direct TV has a media center on the HDDVR now
Dlink has some options under Wireless Media players
I think Wii has some features
PS3 and XBOX have some features

I think most of these 'stream' from the pc to the box to the TV.. I'd like some thing that will use NAS or the computer just for pulling the files. I don't want the pc to really have to do any work except to share files.

Then you get into the whole format and codiec compatibles.

The DLink DSM-520 looks pretty good, but it's $230

I've decided on Xbox Media Center. To get started I've installed a 500GB NAS for the DVD. I'm copying my kids DVD collection to the NAS using DVD Shrink. XBMC works great!! The kids can watch a movie right on their TV thru XBMC.

    Works great!
