Strange Starview problem? Some channels but not as many as I was expecting

My starview cable box arrived today. I'm in an N*L area.

It has s/w version 4 on it from June.

When I do a channel scan I either get 16 (10tv and 6 radio) or 48 (36tv and 12 radio).

I've done a search on starview and tried a couple of suggestions.

1) I've checked my key's are correct.
2) I've done a normal search (got 16) and then did a manual search starting at the lowest frequency (339000) and that got me another 32 channels.

I'm guessing I should be getting way over 100. Is there anything I'm not trying or another method I could use? The really annoying thing is I can't get BBC1 / BBC2 / ITV / Channel4 / Channel5. The funny thing is I can get BBC1 Scotland!

Any ideas?

Are you on true cable or do you have a cable feed from an aerial on your roof and where are you located?

 

My understanding is that I'm in a true cable area. A couple of the channels I am getting have the V*rg*n splash screen talking about C4+1.

I see you said your keys are correct are these the ones you have:

00: 3d 2b df aa 51 c8 dd a0
01: E2 C9 74 0A 04 22 A6 12

Is your key emu on, press menu, type 1570 and check key emu is on at the bottom of the screen that appears.

 

I have capital letters on the first key, is that ok?

And I've checked that my Key EMU is on.

No capitals are fine. So your keys are OK.

Done that and it is still showing at 48 channel (36 tv and 12 radio)

On the manual scan screen is it worth changing the constellation (currently 64 QAM) or the Symbol rate (6887 ksps)

When you do the auto scan, have you changed the Provider to N*L? It's defaulted to TW.

Also, are you getting a lot of "Failed" messages on the auto scan, or is it only scanning a few frequencies?

 

I am changeing it from TW to N*L.

I am getting a lot of FAILED messages on the autoscan. LOADS!

is that bad?

Go to this page http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/531363 we have a full list including Location Co Net Id Freq Sym Rate for the UK. Both your QAM & Symbol rates are fine if you are on N**.

Failing that it is a signal strenght issue. Please make sure you are plugged into the direct cable feed when updating. A signal booster may improve your received signal strenght. That is if you have a weak signal. You will get a lot of failed transponders either way as the Starview searches all transponders even the non-broadcasting ones.

I got a starview box but only get around 50-60 channels! i dont know how to solve this!

do a factory restore press 1668 then turn your box off wait one min turn back on select language then provider then re scan then when you have that done turn your EMU back on again let us know how you get on ok

 

you also have to enter all codes for all providers not just your own provider the codes are at the bottom of my post also make sure when you do a line of code that you save each line by pressing the ok on remote do this to them all ok

 

Well I try adding in the frequencies manually but it is having none of it. I'm guessing the signal strength isn't strong enough. I'm plugged into the main feed into the house but the starview is sitting on a wire about 20 foot long.

ok i dont understand, im a novice at this! after completeing the rescan i got nothing. i opened the link for the codes but i dont know where to enter them??

 

After scanning , go into parental control.Then press info on remote, nothing will happen but type in 2004 directly after pressing info and a new screen will pop up. go into nagravision and check them there !
