I have a plextor 708a 8x dvd burner and I use memorex +r to burn at 8x speed. The burning works fine, but the problem is that when i start playback of the movie copy then at some point the movie freeze or it skip minutes or chapters. If i try to watch the "bad" dvd copy on my computers dvd-rom then it works just fine, no skipping or freezing. This happends with many but not all the movies that i have burned. Many have no problem at all.. So why with some movies, and not all, the same dvd+r media, the same writing speed. Well the really strange thing is that if i use the "bad" copy and make a cd 2 cd copy using a +rw burning at 2.4x then copy 2 works just fine..... no logic for me there. I have tried this at my friends dv players and the same thing happends, but it freeze or skipp at different points, from player to player but with the same amazing result that dvd+rw copy 2 made out of "bad" dvd+r 8x copy 1 works just fine..... Please some one. I thing that if I burn all at 2x then it will have no playback problem, but then why having plextor 708a 8x burner, right?

    X.

For most movies it is advised to burn at low speeds, such as 1x or 2x. I guess it was your choice to buy an 8x burner. You can always use it to burn data and other things at 8x. That is strange though that the dvd+rw will work and not the dvd+r. Have you tried using different media with that movie?
