hey all you computer genuises out there I have a dilemna and maybe someone can clarify what it is for me. My brother has a Toshiba Satellite Laptop running Win XP Pro with a 1.40 Ghz celeron processor, 412 mb of ram, and works off of my wireless 54 G network via my comcast cable connection. My desktop runs Win XP Pro as well with 1.30 Ghz celeron processor, 532 mb ram and when I stream a video from a website for example mtv.com on his laptop it plays very well as if it was on tv and when do the same on my desktop it streams as if it were running stills. Our computers as far as specs are concerned are very similar and my question's is their something else that could be compromising the performance of my computer when streaming. I have the most current in anti-virus, adware, and spyware software so I doubt it's that. Please also keep in mind that this only happens with streaming apps (mtv overdrive) and video. Any helpful responses will be used literally. thanx alot

You could take into account that something you use on your desktop could be hindering the use of your internet connection, making it slower when downloading something (like a stream video). You should check if something is running in the background that's taking up your bandwidth when online. See if your Firewall is blocking the port(s) you use to download stuff from your browser, or check to see if the program you use allows streaming content.
