I had to reset my ipod completly as my friend deleted all my files off it and it would no longer update. Now it claims it cant charge without being plugged into the mains not just out of the pc but i cant get my charger for a while. Is there anyway to override this, i need to update my ipod now!!

    why are ipods so difficult?

it always does this. it is standard procedure. it does this in order to 'refresh'. you will have to do this before you can continue to use your ipod.

no, you just have to charge it. take a trip over to best buy and buy an adapter

You can also charge it via USB, if you have the cable that comes with the iPod. ;-)

No you can't, jazo. Because that doesn't give you the "software reflash" on older generations of iPods..

    No problem, yamumma

    [bold]@theoipod[/bold]

Think of a [bold]software reflash[/bold] as resetting your computer after installing software, except for the iPod ;-)

No, not really. It is a reset upon installation of new firmware, and is required for your firmware to be installed fully & sucessfully..

Lethal is right, I remember doing the software reflash with my old 15GB Ipod, to complete the firmware update I had to use the charger. With my 60GB Ipod video I can charge via usb..

Aye, that's because the Video iPod isn't supplied with an AC adapter, and so the software reflash occurs during the slight delay after your firmware has been installed/updated :)
