My mouse keeps breaking. I keep hearing the "disconnected" sound followed by the "connected" sound. My mouse stops working before the "disconnected" sound is played. Sometimes, a balloon pops up on the bottom right saying "One of your USB devices has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it". When I click on it and select my mosue there doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm running Windows XP with SP2. Can anyone help? I don't want to get a new mouse.

    that rules the port out.

i would guess its a loose connection inside the cable, can you test it on another pc for a couple of hours to make sure its not some kind of software conflict on your machine?

This may sound dumb, but it isn't. Did you install the mouse software or the driver for the mouse? What is the make an model of the mouse?

It's a Chinese mouse. I don't think there is a driver for it, and I've never had problems with it until recently.

Around half an hour ago, the same thing occured for aroudn a minute, rendering my mouse completely unusable for this time.
