I just got into all this Xbox modding stuff and I just softmodded my Xbox and got the whole emulation thing going for me, I love it.

But I wanted to know that since my Xbox is softmodded, would I be able to back up Xbox games and play them on there or do I need a modchip as well?

Thanks for any and all help.

Yes. You will be able to back up games and play them on your softmodded xbox.

Well mod-chipped and softmodded xboxes have nearly the same functions.
Both have their pros and cons.

But a mod-chip xbox is better in my opinion.

OK, next question, I followed the instructions on how to back up a game.
I recently bought Fable and I wanna make a copy.
I FTP'd all the files to my PC, made an ISO with Qwix and burned it with Alcohol 120%

I tried 3 times and all came out as coasters, any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Make sure you choose the option "BURN IMAGE TO DISK" and not "BURN DATA TO DISK"

I already have it set to that since I back up my PS1 & PS2 games as well.

I honestly don't know what the problem is

After I burned it, I put it in my Xbox and my dashboard had "Unknown" displayed in the top right corner, so I know I did something wrong.

As soon as I figure out what I'm doing wrong I'll tell you guys.

I'm sure it's something very very stupid that I'm overlooking...

Could be your media that you're using!?

I've always used Memorex DVD+R's, Memorex DVD-R's, TDK DVD+R's, TDK DVD-R's, HP DVD+R's & HP DVD-R's and I haven't had a problem with any of them on my PS2 but perhaps it could be the media, maybe I should try a different brand...

Then again, I've only tried DVD+R's thus far, I'll give a DVD-R a shot later on today.

there are some Xbox's that will not read the +R media, and Memorex is surely not a great choice for brands.
If your burner can booktype a disc from DVD+R to DVD-Rom i would try that first. If not then DVD_R would be better.
Making an Xbox back up is no different than making a PS2 back up once you have the ISO file made.
Also you may want to try ripping the game and making the ISO with Craxtion4 rather than Qwix. Just to see if that could be a sorce of the game not working. To use Craxtion4 you have to make sure that you install the latest version of ".net framework" which you can do a search on and get at the official Microsoft site (i think 2.0 is the last one i had seen)
Craxtion4 can take the files from the game disc(rip) and copy them to the PC via FTP, then take that folder full of files and create the ISO to burn.
IMGburn is good free software you can use for burning the ISO

Make sure your main ".xbe" is named default.xbe and also choose a low burning speed like 4x

I had bought a 3 pack of Maxell DVD-R's today.
I reburned the Fable ISO that I had originally made.
Turns out that's what my problem was, the media I was using.
I thanks the person who suggested changing that and I thank everybody here for all the help you've given me.

Now to get me an Xbox library :D
