I was trying to backup a DVD and discovered CRC error because of bad tracks. I copied DVD files individually to hard disk except the problem one. I deleted all IFO and BUP files and used IFO edit to create new IFO files. Everything went fine except subtitles. They come in Dark green with wide font. I tried my best to modify them using expert suggestion on this form. I do not have any luck.
Is there anyway to fix this stuff?
    Thanks in advance,
    yh

With Ifoedit, open your .IFO file, select VTS_PGCITI, select VTS_PGC_1,in the bottom window scroll down until you see the Color entries, i.e. "Color 0 Y Cr CB".

The first four color entries are "Color 0 Y Cr CB", "Color 1 Y Cr CB", "Color 2 Y Cr CB", "Color 3 Y Cr CB".

    Double-click each entry to edit it. For the 0 entry use the values "00 80 80", for the 1 entry use "55 80 80", for 2 use "AA 80 80" and for 3 use "FF 80 80".

That should get rid of the green subs. If the subs still show up as green after that then for the remaining 12 entries ("Color 4-15") edit them all with "00 80 80". It may be overkill to edit all the way to 15, but the green subs should be gone.

I did exactly what you said about Color 0 Y Cr CB values, even after I changed all the values, I have no luck in getting back subtitles. After the change made I see Dark Red instead of Green and unreadable.
I have looked at the original IFO file and they were all zeros. I looked at another movie IFO they have different values in all Color X Y values like 81 240 90, 128 196 73 etc.
When I deleted IFO and BUP files and just played VTS_01_1.VOB file using Nero Player, the subtitles come as originally recorded on the computer. If I have to create a DVD, I need the IFO files.
Is there any where a flag set in IFO making subtitles default to VOB container?

You've edited your vts_01_0.ifo color info so it matches this:

and the sub colors still aren't right?

Even though you deleted the original IFO and BUP files to create the new DVD, do you still have access to the original IFO file? If so, you can copy and paste the subtitle colors from there.

Open the orginal IFO file in IFOEdit, select VTS_PGCITI then VTS_PGC_1. Then click on the menu "Subtitle color, Copy colors from this pgc". Without closing IFOEdit, open the new IFO. Select VTS_PGCITI then VTS_PGC_1. Click on "subtitle color, Paste colors to this pgc. Click save. That should restore the original sub colors.

If neither of those techniques work then I'm not sure what the best approach would be to correct the colors.
