Well, that's the problem. Recently, when I try to open a eg. .srt file, I can see in the task manager that a process called subresync.exe is created, but it closes immediately, after a sec or so. I have tried to open many .srt files and the situation remains... Uninstalling and reinstalling VobSub (always v2.23) doesn't help. I have XP-SP3 fully updated, and run Office 2003. Maybe some windows service has been stopped, and that's why I can't get subresync to run? Thank you PS. I could provide you with a sysinternals'Process Monitor logfile on subresync.exe while trying to open a .srt file, if you find it useful.
If you still can't get that to work and need to syncronize subs, try SubSync: http://www.weethet.nl/english/video_syncsubtitles.php
I had the exact same situation and thank you for the solution, which at least for me obviously was uninstalling the less necessary software, Internet Explorer 8 beta 2. I guess I'll manage with an older version of IE till Microsoft solves this severe compatibility issue for the final release - Subresync has remained stable and unchanged since 2002 so they have to do it anyway, right If you notice this happening in the future, please post the happy news here!
Hi I did your suggestions and unilstalled IE8 and reinstall Vobsub but Subresync doesnt work for me yet. my Windows is Sp3 plz help me to run Subresync or introduce me another program same subresync for OCR? thanks
The problem is only with the subresync.exe and submux.exe program of VobSub 2.23. You can download a fix from here (it works with IE8): http://perplexer.info/vobsub/vobsub223fix.zip
It works. You just have to download it and paste the two items into the vobsub folder. Over-riding the existing.
