Am using Win 7, Shrink, Any DVD, & Nero.
Rarely do I have problems however when trying to backup Inglourious Basterds I cannot retain the subtitles. I set the preferences to English in Stream selections from the Shrink preference menu and also to English in the Compression settings (Audio and sub picture).
Nothing seems to help. Any suggestions would very welcome/

Make sure Anydvd is up to date. http://static.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD.exe

If subtitles are present, I can't see why they can't be retained whether your backing up the whole movie or using the re-author option. In re-author make sure that english box is checked.

Also, since you have Nero, you can also try using the Recode application, it works much like shrink's re-author option, you'll see the same choices. With Anydvd running, run nero and choose recode.

    Thanks John.
Any DVD is updated almost weekly, they send through very regular updates.
Cant use Recode as I am using an older OEM version of Nero which doesnt have recode.
As for the settings - I have changed all the drop-downs to English.

A friend has now provided me with a copy of his own back-up which does have the sub titles so I'm not going to investigate any further.
    Thanks again for your response.
