Hi there, I have had Creative Inspire T7900 speakers with a Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer Sound card for probably aboput three years now and they have been working great, until just two days ago my subwoofer decided to stop working. All the other 7 speakers still work perfectly normally. Initially, I unistalled the current audio drivers/software I had with my sound card and went to the creative website and downloaded the latest drivers/software available. When this didn't help I tried pulling apart the remote that controls bass and volume, still to no avail. Am I correct in thinking that the cabling and sound card must be ok as the port on the sound card that controls the subwoofer also controls the centre speaker which works fine. I have gone through every test/setting possible and no matter what, I can't get the subwoofer to work. All other control settings (chainging the EQ settings or changing the amount of surround sound involved) still work making me think the sound card is ok. The only thing that gets me is that firstly all the speaker connections on the sub are working and also, when I turn the volume for the entire system to off, I can hear the sub cut in brielfy (like when you initially turn some speakers on). If the sub had completely died, would this happen? Are there any ways I can test to be 100% certain it is the sub that is the problem, not something else? If so, can it be repaired? Try plugging the center/sub plug into the left & right front port...then play an MP3 and see if the sub makes any noise. If it does, then there is a driver issue or a problem with the sound card. If it does not make noise, the problem is somewhere in the speaker system.
