    Hi all,

I wonder if someone could advise here as I'm a bit of an idiot with this stuff. I've just purchased the Onkyo tx sr605 and are having trouble getting hardly any sound from the built in sub on the front tower.I have connected the cable from the IN on the tower to the pre-out on the amp and the bass is so low. I have gone into settings and put the sound as far up as 12+ with the other speakers all on 0 and the sub can still barely be heard. Before I set up the new amp everything was fine with the previous one. The two front speakers are Eltax Millenium if anyone knows much about them. Is there any settings I should be doing??? I know nothing even when reading the manual. Thanks to all for any advise

Did you set the speakers to "Small", in the receiver's setup menus? If not, try that. If you did, then try them set to "Large". I've never used speakers with a built in subwoofer. Do you plug the speaker into a wall power outlet too? To use the sub pre out on the receiver, the sub has to be a "Powered" sub.
    Good luck!

With the new Onkyos you independently set the crossover for each speaker, as apposed to large or small. In order for the built-sub to work, the crossover to the fronts needs to be low enough so that the sub gets a signal. What kind of speaker do you have? Search the web for the frequency response of your speakers and then set your crossover accordingly.

Thanks very much both of you for the advise. I set the cross over for each speaker and all is great. Thanks
