im thinking about building my first computer..and dont know what CPU or Motherboard to get. i am willing to spend about 200 on the CPU and 200 on the Motherboard.

this computer will be used for some gaming and multitasking.

i dont really understand all of the terms and such about the cpu and mobo so any links with some good info. would be great :)

200 what? dollars? pounds? euros? rupees? :)

heres a pretty good guide to get you started if you dont know how to actually build the pc:
    http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/

As for the parts, I usually like to go with a cheaper motherboard with less features so i can spend more on the cpu and graphics card.

if money is a little short i would go for something like an athlon 64 3000. or if you can afford a little more then the athlon64 3800 is really powerful for games and multitasking but it will cost you about twice what you would pay for the 3000.

try to make sure your motherboard is socket 939 (for amd cpu's)as this will make upgrading a lot easier/cheaper in the future

If you plan on playing games don't forget a decent graphics card. an athlon64 3800 would struggle with even the oldest games and be money wasted if you only had something like a tnt2 gfx card.
