I have a regular surge protecter for my home theater; which consists a Samsung DLP 56", Bose speakers, of course the other essentials that are required for a home theater. I was told I need to get a Monster Power surge protecter in order to get the best power and protection for my tv. Is the Monster surge protecter required? Or could I get something a little cheaper?
idk, i got a rca brand from walmart, and it has 10,000 dollar guarantee. you should look up on it. but it does not have coaxial input or output. i want to know more about that too. isnt protecting power enough? i have to protect the coxial crap too?
I had a huge power surge once when lightening hit the swimming pool. TV, stereo (before real home theater)and regular components were connected to a regular computer surge protector (a damned good one though)but they weren't on so I don't know if that mattered but I'm told if they were simply plugged in, they would have been affected. Computer was also on a surge protector too and that was also fine...blew the modem all to hell though; I didn't know there was a seperate surge protector to protect the modem.
PEOPLE it is not a SURGE PROTECTOR it is a powwer conditionor, which does more that protect it from surge. 1 it filters out the picture and sound it you run you cable/sat through it. 2 it makes sure that whatever you hook it up to recieves a 120 volts. 3 it filters the electricty from the outlet. know I live in Az. and the electricty is recycled out here therefore it does more harm than good to your system. Monster is good make sure you get the one for 150 there is one for 200 but that is that is that sucker bar, because you are paying 50 for two screws to hang on your wall. Another brand is Panamax and that is what I have on my systm and yes you can a diffence in the picture and sound quailty too.
