Do they make a surge protector that has a spot that will protect my Ethernet cable (the cable that goes from my dsl modem to my computer)? If so can u plz provide some links...thanks I have googled this but havent found anything
Even if they did, you wouldn't want one. Surge protectors can add serious lag between connections, they do for phone modems.
Yes. They do make them. Check your local Radio Shack/CompUSA/Best Buy. You would be protecting a 5 volt DC line. The likelyhood of a damaging spike would be minimual.
You're not likely to see a surge go through an ethernet line, the performance decrease just isn't worth it.
Got hit with power surges from The ground cale rotting off the meter and took out the ethernet card. bought a belkin with the ethernet and slowed down to a crawl. Then just started unpluggi from the computer till this weekend went wireless.Don't waste the extra time or money for the ethernet surge protection. My 2 Cents Chris
I have SBC Yahoo DSL internet, if i put a surge protector on the phoneline that goes into the DSL modem would it also create interfearence? Like if i had the phoneline going into a surge protector then the phoneline coming out of the surge protector and going to my DSL modem.
Yeah that's what they were saying. Don't run any kind of internet line through a surge or UPS, it causes major lag.
