My name is Ezra Riner and I am a student at Arkansas State University. I am conducting a study of P2P network use and broader media use among heavy users of P2P networks. If you would like to help, please go to ( REMOVED BY ADMIN ) and fill out the survey. It is, or course, anonymous and purely voluntary. Our campus sever does not have CGI enabled so the survey uses the mailto method to send me your responses. Sorry for that. It should only take about 3 minutes of your time to complete this survey. When the study is completed, I will post the results here. I greatly appreciate your help.
Nobody will spam this forum with their questionare forms unless authorised by me, or Afterdawn.com staff.
A polite request to interested parties is hardly spam. The survey targets exactly the kind of people who visit this page, and jusging by the number of participants, a lot seem to be interested. Spam on the other hand is massively propagated, indiscriminant, commercial mail. It also not a word to throw about lightly. Perhaps a polite request to secure permission beforehand would have been a more mature response...
Its a guy at a University conducting a study! Try looking at it from his point of view... His thoughts must have gone from "AHHH! GREAT STUFF" when he stumbled across this site, hoping that he could complete his studies to "What an absolute bunch of elitist unhelpful chaps" Any more of my view points and I begin to start sounding like Lamberth Council in Cyberspace
So? I am guy studydig at a uni too. 1) Questinaire was posted to multiple forum rooms, which is against forum policy. 2) I delete about 1 message per day which attempts do some kind of forum exploitation. Most surfers will not see the posts since forums are "cleaned" several times a day by admins and moderators. There was no permission asked form the forum admins, or any kind of notification made before hand, so the questionaire was un-auhtorized. 3) Since our server cluster (yes, multiple dedicated serves) is getting overloaded and forum growth is double figure every month, we have a zero tolerance for newbies not acting according to T.O.S.
