svcd compatibility secret sony dvd 715p model

    burn discs using dvd2svcd and nero discs play fine for first 8 mins and then just hang up every time, discs play fine in my cheapo magnovox dvd player and find in windvd
    is there a secret to compatibility or special discs that are only compatible with this player
